ACCORDING TO MENTAL HEALTH AMERICA...

Nearly 1 in 5 American adults are diagnosed with a mental health condition each year.

46% of the US population will meet the criteria for a diagnosable mental health condition at some point in their life.

And nearly half of that 46% will develop conditions by the AGE OF14!!

In a society that is fraying at the edges, we can no longer place the burden of care solely on a fragmented systems that do little more than mitigate our pain. It's time to reclaim our inner power and rise up as a collective consciousness; supporting and leaning on one another as we push past the societal expectations that oppress us, the limiting beliefs that immobilize us, and the external chaos that distracts us.

Sadly, the vast majority of us have never been taught—not by our parents, teachers, medical providers, or even our spiritual leaders—the vital skills of self-care and the impact that this practice has on our mental health. On the contrary, we're often conditioned to believe that by ignoring our vulnerable emotions and hiding our inadequacies, we will somehow earn the respect and acceptance of others. Sadly, this mindset is not only misguided, offering little more than a fleeting sense of security, it can be downright damaging—leaving us with a crushing sense of self-abandonment, debilitating anxiety, and maladaptive behavioral patterns.

When persistent and severe distress goes unchecked, it can wreak havoc on the mind, leaving us unable to cope with painful emotions, recognize cognitive distortions, and effectively recover from trauma.

Much like a car’s “check engine” light is designed to illuminate as a warning sign when underlying mechanical issues arise, the nervous system is designed to send you a distress signal when harmful behaviors or distressing thoughts threaten your mental equilibrium.

Suppressing symptoms associated with somatic, cognitive, or emotional distress has a significant impact on the nervous system, which -in turn- endangers the brain, and puts the body at risk of chronic infection/disease.

Matters like this often manifests as crippling anxiety, debilitating depression, and a cascade of physical ailments -such as immunodeficiency, cardiovascular disease, and even cancer.

The evidence is palpable, with the current mental health crisis growing at such a rapid pace, the only chance that we have at mitigating this issue is for a cultural shift to place. The Mental Wellness Movement not only understands this reality, it was established for this very purpose. People of every age group, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status and religion are currently struggling to cope with the overwhelming stress, emotional chaos, and toxicity that we are all subject to each and every day -from our workplace, to our child's classroom, and even on the screens that we hold in the palm of our hand!
Needless to say, it is time to rise up as a community and pave our own path to peace of mind, emotional equanimity, vitality, and self-sustainability. At The Mental Wellness Movement, we seek to empower, educate, and evoke societal transformation through a more compassionate, collaborative, and creative strategy than what the current mental healthcare system is able to provide.
